Costus barbatus es a menudo tallos en espiral. Se extiende a trav\u00e9s de las regiones tropicales y subtropicales de Asia, \u00c1frica y las Am\u00e9ricas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Caracter\u00edsticas:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Costus barbatus, tambi\u00e9n conocido como jengibre en espiral, es una planta perenne con una inflorescencia roja. Es una de las especies Costus m\u00e1s com\u00fanmente cultivadas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>El follaje de Costus barbatus es de color verde oscuro y velloso por debajo. Las largas inflorescencias rojas se complementan con flores tubulares de color amarillo brillante. Los grupos se propagan f\u00e1cilmente y producen plantas que normalmente alcanzan los seis pies de altura.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Costus barbatus es nativo de Costa Rica. Las plantas son polinizadas por colibr\u00edes. Costus barbatus son populares como flores cortadas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Usos:<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Solo ocasionalmente se cultiva como ornamental, pero se puede cultivar con \u00e9xito en climas m\u00e1s suaves si se mantiene abrigada y protegida en un lugar sombreado, con suelo bien regado. Tambi\u00e9n crece bien cuando est\u00e1 en maceta y en interiores.
